Frequently Asked Questions

CBD is a rapidly developing worldwide industry, growing so fast that our understanding sometimes struggles to keep up. Here we answer the most frequently asked questions surrounding CBD
Does CBD Get You High?

No, CBD will 100% not get you high.

Whilst you may feel more relaxed, less stressed and even more content in your mood, you won’t feel unlike yourself in any way after taking CBD. You’re even safe to drive after taking it!

Whilst CBD does come from the hemp plant – which is renowned for inducing a high – the psychoactive compound, THC, has been removed so significantly from CBD products that we can guarantee you won’t feel any of these effects.

Will CBD Show Up On A Drugs Test?

Because the levels of THC found in Orange County’s full-spectrum CBD products are so small, we can safely say that you will not fail a roadside drug test if you’re taking CBD regularly.

However, the trace amounts of THC found in our full spectrum products can build up in your system. This could mean that they show up on a workplace drug test if used regularly. If you’re likely to get tested for THC in your workplace, we’d always recommend using Orange County’s CBD isolate products instead, as these contain zero levels of THC.

How Does CBD Make You Feel

Regular CBD users report a number of different benefits from taking the compound including:

– Reduced anxiety: Initial studies surrounding CBD use suggest that it may be beneficial for some in the treatment of anxiety. These studies indicate that CBD may play a role in changing how receptors in the brain respond to the hormone serotonin, the compound responsible for stabilising mood and feelings.

– Pain management and inflammation relief: Recent studies suggest that CBD may be a useful alternative for people who have chronic pain and rely on opioid-based medications to manage it. Whilst more research is needed to verify the pain-relieving benefits of CBD products, CBD is believed to reduce inflammation by decreasing or even preventing the release of hormones that trigger the pain response.

– Better Sleep: Increasing numbers of people are turning to CBD oil as an alternative natural supplement for sleep, and though studies are still in their initial stages, preliminary research suggests CBD can help with a number of sleep disorders, including insomnia, REM sleep behavior disorder, and excessive daytime sleepiness disorder.

– Better Fitness Recovery: As CBD is thought to relieve inflammation, it can be a great aide when dealing with DOMs or other fitness-related pain. CBD muscle rubs, in particular, may help to reduce joint and tissue pains after a workout, which may improve your performance and hasten your recovery.

– Feeling Peaceful: Reduced anxiety will generally result in a feeling of peace and calm. Although more difficult to measure from an objective standpoint, many users have reported this feeling after taking CBD oil. CBD oil could also boost your mood to help you handle your daily tasks with greater ease.

How Much CBD Should I Take?

How much CBD you should take will depend on a range of factors, including:

  • Your body weight
  • What condition you’re hoping to treat with CBD
  • Your individual metabolism
  • The concentration of the CBD you’re taking

Because there are so many variables that go into your unique CBD dose, we always recommend that you start low and gradually increase it until you feel the desired effects.

This could mean starting with 20 to 40 mg a day, and increasing it by 5 mg until you feel that it’s effectively treating your symptoms.

How Long Does CBD Oil Take To Work?

You should be able to feel the effects of orally administered CBD products, (such as Orange County’s oils, gummies, or capsules) within 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on a number of factors from metabolism to body weight.

Vaping CBD may result in more immediate effects.

How Long Does CBD Last?

Many different factors might influence how long the effects of CBD might last for you, including:

  • Physical factors and genetics, such as your metabolism, age, and weight
  • Last time it was taken
  • Dosage
  • Frequency of use

However, CBD tends to last around 2 – 6 hours.

How Long Does CBD Stay In Your System?

There are a number of different factors that could influence the amount of time that CBD stays in your system as well as how it affects you. How long it lasts and how long it is detectable within your system won’t be the same for everyone, and it can depend on:

  • Physical factors and genetics, such as your metabolism, age, and weight
  • Last time it was taken
  • Dosage
  • Frequency of use

However, CBD typically stays in your system for 2 to 5 days.

Can You Take Too Much CBD?

According to a 2011 study by Current Drug Safety, to reach toxic levels of CBD you would need to ingest a ridiculously huge 20,000mg either all at once or in a short span of time.

To put this to context, that would mean directly ingesting about 13 bottles of Orange County’s 1500mg CBD oil all at once. Not even the most experienced CBD user can take this much by accident.

So, taking a few more drops of CBD oil or chewing a few more CBD gummies than you are used to won’t expose you to any danger. However, we recommend that our customers keep within the FSA dosage limit of 70mg of CBD per-day.

Can You Drive Whilst Taking CBD?

Yes! As CBD is 100% non-intoxicating, within the UK, it’s completely legal to use CBD and drive.

What's The Best Time To Take CBD?

There is no ‘right time’ to take your daily dose of CBD, and when you choose to take it really depends on your own routine, and the reasons you’re using CBD in the first place.

CBD can fit into your schedule however you like, but we’d recommend starting by taking it before bed to get a feel for the effects.

The vast majority of our customers at Orange County CBD take our products twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening, sometimes just before sleep. Others take it three times a day by adding a dose at midday.

How To Store CBD Oil

We’d always recommend keeping your CBD oil in its original Orange County packaging to prevent any unnecessary exposure to air.

Store your bottle of oil at room temperature, in a dark place away from light, such as a pantry, cupboard, or closet.
